Who is packing what?

Your writing agreement with us indicates what packing the movers will do. The movers will always wrap all the furniture and pack your electronics and the large paintings (the size that cannot fit in a regular box).

If you signed up for a full pack service, the movers will handle ALL the packing while if you signed up for no pack service, you will have to pack all clothes, linens, books, toys, kitchenware etc. into boxes.

What packing materials should be used for the move?

We will wrap all the furniture with moving blankets or with craft paper (for international). If you pack you own boxes please use common sense to pack heavy items (papers, books, tools) in small boxes and fragile items in thick strong boxes. You can use plastic bins and suitcases but please avoid using plastic bags.
The packing materials that we use are – Book box 16” x 13” x 13”, Medium box 18” x 18” x 16”, Large box 24” x 18” x 18”, China / Dish box 18” x 18” x 28”, wardrobe box 24” x 21” x 47”

Will the movers disconnect items from the wall?

Our movers will unmount your TV from the wall but we are not allowed to mount it back up on the wall of your new home. The movers will not disconnect other items from the wall unless otherwise agreed with your sales rep. and in any case, will not hang or reconnect items to the walls of your new home.

Who will disassemble my furniture?

Movers will disassemble only what must be taken apart to fit the entrances or to be safely moved. Beds and legs of tables always need disassemble. At BestGuy Moving, we will reassemble whatever was disassembled.

Should we empty the dressers and file cabinets?

We recommend that you empty all the dressers. Two men will have to carry the heavy dresser and carry them full will increase the chance of damaging your walls on the way up and down the stairs and damage to the dressers draws while lifting twisting and flipping it while entering / exiting narrow doors. Lateral file cabinets should be empty while you can leave the bottom two draws of a vertical file cabinet full.

Can I ride the truck with the movers?

Unfortunately, the insurance company will NOT allow that.

Is BestGuy Moving fully licensed and insured?

Yes, we are insured and licensed: A moving company needs to carry a separate license for each move type that they perform. There are separate licenses for local, interstate and international moves. When checking companies for your specific move, you should ask the moving company to present you with the license, or at least advise you of the license number.

 

Are there items that we cannot ship?

What and where would you move?

What happens if my move postponed?

We understand that unforeseen things might happen that will cause a delay in your move and we will accommodate move date changes. We would appreciate as much advanced notice as possible and no less than 3 business days.

Do I need to tip the movers?

Tipping is not mandatory but it is customary to tip the movers ONLY If you were a 100% happy with of their services.  A customary amount for local moves is 15-20 % of the total cost of a job and about $6 – $8 per hr. per man (from start of the day to finish load / unload in the warehouse) for interstate and international moves.
